Louisiana Flood Update
It’s been over a month since the devastating flooding in our area and we are pleased to report that the staff and customers of Louisiana’s 1st Choice Auto Auction who were flooded in August are slowly getting back to normal. We gave our flooded buyers fee discounts to help them replenish their lost inventory. We raised almost $25,000 with our Go Fund Me site to provide financial assistance to our 13 staff members who suffered losses and we distributed $500 Walmart gift cards that were generously donated by the National Auto Auction Association. And we collected and distributed clothing and cleaning supplies to assist in the recovery effort. We thank all of you for your support of our recovery efforts on behalf of those affected. Whether you donated money or supplies, know that our employees are grateful and humbled by your generosity.
I would like to say we are back to business as usual but the fact is we have a new process regarding flood cars that will affect the sale of cars in our area moving forward. The OMV now requires a signed form from the seller of any car sold since August 12, 2016 verifying it is not flood damaged. There are two forms: one for Louisiana cars sold between August 12, 2016 and August 31, 2016, and one for Louisiana cars sold since September 1, 2016. The form must remain with the title and a new form must be attached each time the car is sold. If the form is missing the title will be rejected. I can assure you we at Louisiana’s 1st Choice Auto Auction are proactively involved in getting the right information to our customers and we are here to assist customers with the OMV paperwork now required to sell a Louisiana car. We will update you as the OMV updates us. Please read this excellent article on how to identify flood damage and view our flood guarantee here: http://lafcaa.com/flood.
Thank you for your continued support of our auction. Earning and keeping your trust as your preferred auction is paramount to us. We hope to see you every Tuesday at Louisiana’s 1st Choice Auto Auction.
